Research Methods: Based on a provincial panel dataset which ranges from 2013 to 2018, this paper applies the entropy method to constructing an evaluation indicator system for the development level of the digital economy and does empirical tests including descriptive statistics, Theil index, natural discontinuity point classification method, Moran index and regression methods. Research Findings: The development of China's digital economy has been increasing year by year, but there is significant heterogeneity among the different regions. The gap comes from two major aspects: inter-regional and intra-regional, and the eastern region contributes the most. The development level is gradually diminishing from eastern China to western China and same trend exits from coastal regions to inland regions. Most areas are in low-level status and remain steady state without transitions for a long time. These results show that the problem of insufficient and unbalanced development of the digital economy remains severe.Research Innovations: This paper measures the development of China's digital economy, and respectively quantifies the development level of overall, four major regions and five major economic belts through the temporal and spatial dimension. Research Value: This paper enriches and improves the measurement of China's digital economy development level, and provides theoretical framework for the government digital economy related policies-making. | | 查看全文 |
