Research Methods: Based on the panel data of Shanghai and Shenzhen A share listed companies in 2001~2015 years, this paper uses the counting model and instrumental variable method to estimate. Research Findings: The rising labor costs have significantly raised the overall innovation level of Chinese enterprises, and their effect on substantive innovation is higher than that of strategic innovation. Moreover, from the heterogeneity analysis of different dimensions, we can see that in young enterprises, non-state-owned enterprises, foreign-funded enterprises, coastal enterprises and Non-high-tech enterprises, the increase of labor costs brings more substantial innovation output. In addition, the impact of executive average salary increase on enterprise innovation is less than that of the average wage increase of ordinary employees, and the salary gap also can promote enterprise innovation to a certain extent. Research Innovations: Based on discussing the mechanism of the rising labor costs to the enterprise innovation, this paper subdivides the enterprise innovation into the substantive innovation and the strategic innovation, and investigates whether the rising labor costs really improve the innovation quality of the enterprises and focuses on the heterogeneity influences caused by different characteristics of the enterprises. Research Value: It is of significance to better implement the innovation driven strategy and achieve China‘s economic transformation and upgrading. | | 查看全文 |
